Even if you don’t consider yourself an architecture buff you are going to be very pleasantly surprised by Chicago’s Best Architecture Boat Tour via Chicago Architecture Foundation. The foundation is easily accessible at 224 S. Michigan Ave. close to the downtown hotels, bus lines and El stops. The office is home to the CAF gift shop, one of our favorite “tourism” shops along Michigan Ave.
There is nothing like cruising the city on a warm sunny day and it just gets better when you are on our waterways! The Chicago River is not just for St. Patrick’s Day green, Chicago’s First Lady gets you right up close and personal to the best in Chicago’s architecture.
All CAF tours are led by well-trained docents who have a stellar grasp of the city’s history and the architects who have graced our skylines with monuments to our businesses, our houses of worship, our journalism and media, and our homes. Docents undergo and must pass a 14 hour training before leading tours and we’ve found them to be warm and entertaining with a great depth of knowledge.
CAF River Tours are held aboard Chicago’s First Lady Cruises. You can find their website here or give the office a call at.
